It is recorded that He entered the city riding on a donkey, and that supporters welcomed Him by waving palm fronds. The donkey symbolized not humility, but His kingship in peace. As He entered the city, Jesus knew that it was His destiny to die on the cross a week later for the sins of man. That day, of course, is Good Friday, and it is followed on the third day (counting Friday as the first) by Easter Sunday, representing His resurrection from the dead.
