The Balance of Power Shifts Now That Abortion Is on The States

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines democracy as: "a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically free elections."

We often hear politicians, in a panic stating, "our democracy is at stake" because something happened that they did not like politically; often, these words come from the mouths of Democrats. The Left says that Republicans and their voters are destroying our country. In reality, Democrats are upset because power was taken from their hands. The more power Democrats get, the drunker they become. When the Left loses power, get ready for outrage, lies, and their voters to cause chaos and destruction.

This past Friday, the long-anticipated Dobbs versus Jackson opinion was released by the conservative majority Supreme Court, ruling Roe versus Wade unconstitutional and rightfully sending the issue back to the States. Immediately, politicians went to Twitter and began to tweet about the decision; expectedly, outrage ensued. New York Democrat Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez took to the protest area outside of the Supreme Court, where she began to scream on a bullhorn. She yelled women were being attacked, and our democracy was in danger – no surprise.

The truth of the matter is this: Democracy was not weakened. It is stronger now that the abortion issue has been placed back in the States, and citizens have a say on the highly controversial topic.

When the Supreme Court in 1973 ruled that abortion was legal across America, the justices took power away from citizens by not sending the issue back to the states where it belongs. Abortion is not in the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution has no amendment to it. Our country should not be dealing with this today. There should not be riots, road blockades, or an attempt to murder Justice Brett Kavanaugh and other conservative justices in hiding for fear of their life.

Now, almost fifty years later, power has been rightfully given back to the citizens of each state to choose whether or not abortion should be allowed – the way our Founding Fathers intended. In their wisdom, they understood that times, cultures, and societies change. The knowledge of these men also understood that a large central government is dangerous to the democratic process, making way for the 10th Amendment.

Do not be fooled. Congressional Democrats and Joe Biden are not angry because of the lack of access to abortion. Democrats do not care about women; look at how they support transgender women competing in biological women's sports. They are mad because the conservative justices read and interpreted the Constitution in a way that took away the Left's power - originalism. Democratic politicians weakened after Friday's ruling. Will they still throw fits about abortion? Yes. Will they still demonize Republicans using the issue? Of course. However, the power of their grip in Washington D.C. slipped due to six Supreme Court justices that understood the United States Constitution is not a "living and breathing" document that changes over time.

I could not agree more with Democrats when they say we are going "backward" in this country, for it is needed. We should go back to a time with more States Rights, and voters have more power to speak out on issues not enumerated in the Constitution, such as abortion. The Founding Fathers did not set up a system where authorities given to the states are chipped away over time, allowing the Federal Government complete control. The fact that the country is having this debate shows how far we have moved from the original founding ideas that made America a great place where people risked their lives to live.

Our system works in a way that is supposed to limit Federal Government in state affairs. Power-hungry politicians and certain Supreme Court justices have taken away the voice of citizens for power, money, greed, or some other type of personal gain; we will never know the whole story, but here we are today. The abortion topic is going back to the states. Approximately fifty years late, but as the saying goes, "better late than never."

Friday's ruling strengthened our democratic principles. Ironically, the political party portraying themselves as so worried about "losing our democracy" is outraged.
